28 year old Galway man, model, actor and GAA player Wayne Walsh will take to the stage on August 23rd in the Philippines to represent Ireland at the Mr World competition and has been named as one of the favourites to claim the coveted title.“I’ll give it my all and prepare as well as I can for it because the competition will be strong’’ he said.
An ambassador for mental health , Wayne has spoken candidly in the past about self care.
He believes in taking stand and speaking about depression regardless of his teammates or any lad culture that exists.
Wayne wants to progress into acting and presenting and is taking courses in both.
‘’At the moment, I am doing a lot of gym training and looking after my food to try and get into good shape because there will be a lot of fitness challenges at Mr World. I am trying to be as physically prepared as I can.”
As well as stepping away from alcohol in preparation for Mr. World, he has also given up drink while playing hurling for his local club in Gort, Galway.
“I have played hurling all of my life and there would have been drinking bans imposed at different stages since I was 18.”It is not something I struggle with because I don’t need drink to be social,” says Wayne.
The competition takes place in Manila later this month, let’s hope this ‘Thrilla in Manila’ venue brings home gold for Mr Ireland.
